This Zagat-rated eatery’s menu of elevated comfort food is a fitting accompaniment to the beautiful scenery. Cottonwood also hosts live acoustic music on Thursday and Friday evenings.
Truckee Thursdays is a lively summertime celebration bringing live music, sidewalk sales, and many other fun activities to downtown Truckee. Participants enjoy food and drink from the Truckee Thursdays beer garden and a great selection of global food vendors. There are also numerous artisan vendors and special activities for kids.
The Alpenglow Mountain Festival runs for nine days in February with more than 100 individual events. Winter mountain sports such as cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and backcountry skiing, and splitboarding are at the heart of the action during the Alpenglow festival. There are also educational workshops, live music performances, yoga and natural history activities, and a variety of social gatherings.
September’s Truckee Tahoe Airshow & Family Festival sees jets, monoplanes, biplanes, and more fill the skies over Truckee. This popular annual event also features interactive exhibits, live music, puppet shows, guest speakers, displays of cutting-edge aircraft, and free flights for kids.
The sprawling Squaw Valley Ski Resort is located around 15 minutes drive south of Truckee. Squaw Valley hosted events for the 1960 Winter Olympics and is now the annual base for the Wanderlust Festival. This unique event brings relaxing activities such as yoga together with live music performances.
The Tahoe-Truckee Unified school district serves Truckee and Northstar.
